How to apply

  • Enter Ukraine on the appropriate long-term (Type D) visa
  • Apply to the territorial State Migration Service office at your place of residence
  • Submit documents proving the ground for residence, legalised and translated as required
  • Collect the biometric residence card and renew while the ground continues

Requirements

  • Have entered Ukraine on the appropriate long-term (Type D) visa (or an exempt ground)
  • Hold a qualifying ground to remain: employment, study, family reunification, religious, cultural or scientific work, or business investment (from EUR 100,000)
  • Hold valid medical insurance
  • Register at a place of residence in Ukraine

Documents you may need

  • Passport or stateless-person ID showing the D visa, plus copies
  • Ukrainian translation of the passport pages
  • Valid medical insurance policy
  • Proof the fees have been paid
  • Ground-specific documents (for example work contract or work permit, confirmation of study, marriage certificate, or business/investment registration)
  • Legal representative's documents, where applicable
