Who Needs a Visa for Ukraine
Visa requirements depend on nationality, purpose and length of stay; visa-free entry covers short visits for many nationals, but long stays for work, study or family always require a visa and residence permit.
Important
Ukraine maintains visa-free arrangements with a large number of countries whose nationals may enter for short stays for tourism, business or private purposes. The most common allowance is up to 90 days within any 180-day period, though for some countries the permitted stay is shorter under the relevant bilateral agreement.
The visa-free regime applies only to short-term stays. Anyone intending to work, study, reunite with family, invest or otherwise remain in Ukraine long term must obtain the appropriate long-term (D) visa and then a residence permit, regardless of whether their nationality qualifies for visa-free short visits.
Nationals of visa-required countries not covered by the electronic-visa scheme must apply for a C, D or B visa at a Ukrainian consulate. The definitive, up-to-date list of visa-free, e-visa and visa-required countries is published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
