Entry to Ukraine During Martial Law
Ukraine has been under martial law since February 2022; entry rules, border crossings, exit restrictions and permit validity have all been affected, so current official guidance must be checked before any travel.

Following the full-scale invasion in February 2022, Ukraine introduced martial law, which remains in force and directly affects immigration. Electronic visa issuance was suspended and later resumed, air travel is not operating normally, and entry is principally by land border.
Wartime relief measures also affected residence status: for a period, expired permits were treated as valid. That relief has since been wound down, and foreign nationals with expired permits have been required to regularise their status by official deadlines or risk irregular status.
Because rules under martial law can change at short notice, anyone planning to enter, remain in or transit Ukraine should check the latest guidance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Migration Service, and their own government's travel advice, immediately before travelling.
