Documents you need
Core documents for Uruguayan residence: identity, apostilled police clearance, proof of means, health/vaccination records, and category-specific evidence.
Important
Most residence applications require: a valid passport; an apostilled or legalised criminal-record certificate from every country where you lived more than six months in the last five years; proof of sufficient and lawful means of living; a Uruguayan vaccination certificate (Decree 136/2018) issued by a vaccination centre in Uruguay; and a current health booklet (Carné de Salud).
Every foreign document must be apostilled or legalised and, where necessary, translated into Spanish, with the exception of documents issued by Brazil. Certificates such as marriage or birth records generally cannot be more than one year old from their issue date.
Category-specific evidence is added on top: an employer letter and salary details for work; an enrolment certificate for study; the Uruguayan relative's identity and civil-status documents for a family link; an invitation letter for a business visa.
