How to apply for a Suriname visa or entry document
The route you use depends on your nationality and purpose: an online entry fee for visa-free travellers, an e-tourist card or e-visa for visa-required nationalities, or a consular/embassy process for long stays.

Short-stay travel to Suriname is handled online. Travellers who are visa-exempt still pay an entry fee online before arrival, while nationals of visa-required countries apply for an e-tourist card (tourism) or an e-visa (tourist, business or transit) through the official portal operated on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by VFS Global at suriname.vfsevisa.com. Since 1 January 2020 tourist cards can no longer be obtained on arrival at the airport, so travellers must arrange the correct document in advance.
Stays longer than 90 days for work, study, family reunification or settlement follow a different track. Applicants generally first obtain an Authorization for Temporary Stay (MKV), then a short-stay entry visa (KV) to travel, and finally register in Suriname and apply for a residence permit. These applications are decided by the Ministry of Justice and Police and its Aliens Affairs department, with work permits issued separately by the Ministry of Labour.
