Luxembourg Self-Employed Worker Residence Permit

Who it's for

Non-EU nationals who intend to set up and personally run a commercial, craft or independent professional activity in Luxembourg for more than three months.

Requirements

• Valid passport
• Proof of the qualifications and any professional registrations required for the activity
• A complete business and financing plan
• Proof of the necessary economic resources to run the business
• Evidence the activity benefits Luxembourg (jobs, innovation, economic or cultural contribution)
• Temporary authorisation to stay granted before entry

What you can do

• Establish and operate your own business or independent professional activity
• Reside in Luxembourg for the duration of the permit (3 years, renewable)
• Apply for family reunification once resident

How to apply

Before entering Luxembourg, submit the temporary authorisation to stay application, with the business plan and supporting documents, to the General Department of Immigration; approval must be obtained before travel.

Visa nationals then obtain a Type D long-stay visa.

After arrival, declare your arrival at the commune within 3 days and complete the medical examination and TB screening.

Apply for the residence permit within 3 months of entry.
