Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Luxembourg's national long-stay process carries two distinct fees at different stages, separate from the shared Schengen short-stay visa fee. Amounts below are drawn from official Luxembourg government sources.

The temporary authorisation to stay is the gateway step, and the official guichet.public.lu instructions for it list only the later residence-permit fee rather than a separate charge for the authorisation itself.

The residence permit fee

  • EUR 80 for the residence permit, payable to IBAN LU46 1111 2582 2814 0000 (BIC: CCPLLULL)
  • The same EUR 80 applies to a renewal of the permit
  • Proof of payment must be included with the residence permit application

The Type D (national long-stay) visa fee

Visa-required nationals pay a consular fee for the Type D visa when they lodge it at the competent Luxembourg (or representing) consulate.

  • EUR 50 for the Type D long-stay visa, as published by Luxembourg diplomatic missions
  • The fee is generally non-refundable and paying it does not guarantee issuance
