Luxembourg Salaried Worker Residence Permit

Who it's for

Non-EU/EEA nationals who have secured an employment contract with an employer established in Luxembourg and intend to work as an employee for more than three months.

Requirements

• Valid passport
• Employment contract compliant with Luxembourg law
• ADEM certificate confirming the employer may recruit a third-country national (labour-market test)
• Criminal record extract or sworn affidavit from country of residence
• Curriculum vitae and proof of professional qualifications
• Temporary authorisation to stay granted before entering Luxembourg

What you can do

• Live in Luxembourg and work for the sponsoring employer
• First permit limited to one profession in one sector
• On renewal (up to 3 years) work in any sector or profession
• Apply later for family reunification and, after 5 years, long-term resident status

How to apply

Before travel, apply for a temporary authorisation to stay to the General Department of Immigration; this is valid for 90 days once granted.

If you are a visa national, use the authorisation to request a Type D long-stay visa from a Luxembourg diplomatic or consular mission.

After arrival, make a declaration of arrival at your local commune within 3 days and undergo a medical examination and tuberculosis screening.

Submit the residence-permit application within 3 months of entry.
