Who it's for

Non-EU/EEA nationals accepted onto a degree programme at a Lithuanian higher-education institution or a formal vocational training course, who will study in Lithuania for longer than 90 days.

  • Proof of sufficient funds for the study period (or evidence of parental/sponsor support)
  • Valid passport
  • Health insurance valid in Lithuania
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Parental consent if the applicant is a minor
  • Clean criminal record for first-time applicants

How to apply

Secure admission and obtain the institution's mediation/admission letter.

File the study TRP application in MIGRIS at migracija.lt, then submit biometrics and original documents in person - within the deadline the system sets - at a Migration Department division or VFS Global centre abroad.

A national (D) visa can be used first to enter for a stay of up to a year, with the residence permit collected in Lithuania. A study-visa/permit decision is typically issued within about 15 days to a few weeks depending on the route.
