Lithuanian EU Blue Card

Who it's for

Highly qualified non-EU/EEA nationals with a higher-education qualification (or equivalent professional experience) and a Lithuanian job offer paying an above-average salary, especially in engineering, IT, finance, health and other high-skill fields.

Requirements

• Employment contract of at least 6 months for a highly qualified role
• Higher-education diploma, or at least 5 years of equivalent professional experience (3 years within the last 7 for ICT specialists)
• Gross salary at least 1.5x the national average (1.2x for high-value-added shortage occupations)
• Valid passport
• Health insurance valid in Lithuania
• Recognition of the foreign diploma where required
• Clean criminal record for first-time applicants

• Live and work in Lithuania in the highly qualified role
• Bring family members without the standard prior-residence waiting period
• Move more easily to other EU member states under Blue Card mobility rules after a qualifying period
• Accumulate time toward EU long-term resident status, including time in other EU states
• Renew the card while the qualifying employment continues

How to apply

The application is filed in MIGRIS at migracija.lt, usually with the employer's involvement.

Biometrics and original documents are submitted in person at a Migration Department division or a VFS Global centre abroad.

The standard decision period is about 1 month, or roughly 15 days under the expedited procedure for a higher fee. The Blue Card is then issued as a residence-permit card.
