After you arrive in Lithuania
The steps to take once in Lithuania on a long-stay visa or residence permit: collecting your card and declaring your place of residence.
Important
Once you are lawfully in Lithuania on a national (D) visa or with an approved temporary residence permit, there are a few local steps to complete so your status is properly recorded. The main ones are collecting your residence permit card (if applicable) and declaring your place of residence with the authorities.
If you were issued a residence permit but held a national visa or used a visa-free regime to enter, you can collect the residence permit card that has been issued in Lithuania.
Collect your residence permit card
- Collect the card once your application is approved and the card is produced.
- You can collect it from a Migration Department division - and, for convenience, from a different division than where you applied.
- Delivery by courier to a chosen address is also available.
Declare your place of residence
- Declare your place of residence within 1 month from the date you collect the residence permit card.
- You can declare it at an eldership or municipality, or at the Migration Department.
- When declaring, you may need documents confirming your right to reside in the dwelling (owner's consent, or a lease registered with the Centre of Registers).
