Who it's for

Non-EU/EEA/Swiss academics and R&D professionals offered a paid research role at a Danish research institution or company, where the appointment is individually justified on research grounds.

  • Particular research-related reasons for the appointment, closely linked to you personally
  • Research being the main purpose of your stay
  • Employment terms customary for the position

What you can do

  • Live in Denmark and carry out the research role
  • Bring accompanying family who receive their own permits and can work
  • Extend the permit if you continue research at the same institution
  • Count the stay toward permanent residence

How to apply

Apply to SIRI via nyidanmark.dk, with the institution/employer completing its part of the application. If the employer is Fast-Track certified and you want a quicker start, apply under the Fast-Track researcher track instead. A fee applies and biometrics are recorded.
