Danish The Pay Limit Scheme (Beløbsordningen)

Who it's for

Non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals who have a firm job offer from a Danish employer where the pay meets the threshold. It suits mid-to-senior professionals in any field, since no specific occupation or diploma is required — the salary itself is the qualifying test.

Requirements

• A genuine, concrete offer of employment from an employer in Denmark
• Annual salary at or above the Pay Limit threshold (DKK 552,000 for 2026; DKK 446,000 for the Supplementary scheme)
• Pay and employment terms that are otherwise customary for the Danish labour market
• Salary paid into a Danish bank account held in your own name
• For the Supplementary scheme: additional conditions apply (e.g. relating to labour-market balance)

What you can do

• Live in Denmark and work for the employer named in your permit
• Bring accompanying family members (spouse/partner and children) who get their own residence permits
• Accompanying family may work freely in Denmark
• Apply for a job-seeking permit (up to 6 months) if you lose the job
• Count the time toward eventual permanent residence

How to apply

Applications are made to SIRI through nyidanmark.dk, usually online. The employee and employer each complete parts of the application. You can apply from abroad or, in some situations, from within Denmark. A case-processing fee applies and biometrics must be recorded at a Danish diplomatic mission or SIRI/citizen-service branch.

Once granted, register for a CPR number and residence card after arrival.
