Danish Permanent Residence Permit

Who it's for

Foreign nationals who have built up the required years of legal temporary residence in Denmark — for example through work, post-study employment or family reunification — and who meet the settlement conditions and want indefinite status.

Requirements

• 8 years of continuous legal residence (or 4 years with supplementary conditions)
• Regular full-time employment for at least 3 years 6 months within the last 4 years
• Self-support — not having received disqualifying public assistance; meeting the annual income level
• Passing the Danish-language test (at least Prøve i Dansk 2)
• No serious criminal conviction and no disqualifying overdue public debt
• Meeting the required number of supplementary conditions where the shorter route or extra points are used

How to apply

Apply to SIRI via nyidanmark.dk once you meet the residence period and conditions. You must document employment history, income/self-support, your Danish-language result and your clean record on debt and criminality. A fee applies and biometrics are recorded. Because thresholds change annually, verify the current figures before applying.
