How to apply for a Qatar visa
Qatar's visa and residency applications are handled through a small set of official digital platforms depending on the route: Hayya for visitor entry permits, and the Ministry of Interior / Hukoomi / Metrash2 for residence permits.

How you apply for a Qatar visa depends on the route. Short-term visitor entry permits — including the Tourist Visa (A1) and GCC Resident Visa (A2) — are applied for through the Hayya platform (the 'Hayya to Qatar' website and app), which is Qatar's central digital gateway for entry permits. Nationals of visa-exempt countries do not apply in advance and instead receive an entry stamp on arrival.
Residence-based routes — work, family, student and permanent residency — are handled by the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Passports and Expatriates Affairs, with services delivered online through the Hukoomi e-government portal and the Metrash2 app, or in person at ministry service centres. Work routes also involve the Ministry of Labour for recruitment approval and employment-contract attestation.
Transit passengers arrange their visa through the Discover Qatar Transit Desk at Hamad International Airport. Because the Ministry of Interior states that visa rules can change without notice, applicants should always confirm the current process on the official portal before travelling or paying any fee.
