Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Qatar does not publish a single official schedule of processing times. Electronic visitor entry permits through the Hayya platform are generally issued within a few days, and visa-free travellers are processed on arrival. Transit visas are arranged at the airport transit desk.

Residence permits take longer because they involve several steps — recruitment/work-visa approval, entry, a medical examination, fingerprinting, contract attestation and issuance of the Qatar ID. The Ministry of Labour has introduced fast-track electronic services that can speed up work-visa approvals for compliant companies.

Permanent-residency applications are decided by a Ministry of Interior committee and can take considerably longer, as recommendations must be reviewed and approved by the Minister of Interior. Applicants should treat any specific turnaround figures with caution and confirm current timings with the relevant authority.
