Who is eligible for a Qatar visa
Eligibility ranges from visa-free entry for nationals of a large list of countries, to sponsorship-based residence for workers, families and students, to defined categories for permanent residency.
Important
For short visits, eligibility depends on nationality. Nationals of a large number of countries can enter visa-free, while others apply for an electronic Tourist Visa (A1) through Hayya. Residents of other GCC states use the GCC Resident Visa (A2), and GCC citizens are exempt from visas entirely.
For living in Qatar, eligibility is sponsorship-based. Workers need an employer sponsor and an attested employment contract; family members can be sponsored by a resident who meets minimum salary and housing conditions; and students need acceptance from a Qatari educational institution. Investors can gain residency by purchasing eligible real estate.
Permanent residency under Law No. 10 of 2018 is restricted to defined categories — for example children of Qatari women married to non-Qataris, people with special skills the state needs, and those who have rendered notable services to Qatar — with final decisions made by a Ministry of Interior committee.
