Important
Eligibility to enter the FSM is nationality-based. All visitors may enter without a visa for up to 30, 90 or 365 days depending on nationality: United States citizens and nationals of the Marshall Islands and Palau may stay up to 365 days; nationals of most EU member states plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland may stay up to 90 days; and all other nationalities are generally admitted for 30 days, extendable to a maximum of 60 days.
A person staying beyond the visa-free period, or entering to work, study, invest or join family, must hold the appropriate entry permit. Entry permits are capped at a maximum period of one year and are renewable, except spouse permits which may run for up to five years on renewal.
United States citizens have distinct rights under the Compact of Free Association and may enter to live, work or study in the FSM without a visa or non-citizen registration.
