FSM visa and permit processing times

What to expect on timing for entry permits, and why applicants should confirm current turnaround.

Official guidance Regularly updated

Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

The FSM does not publish official standard processing times for entry permits. Visitors within the visa-free allowance are assessed at the port of entry, while permits for stays beyond the visa-free period, employment, study, investment or family are processed by the Division of Immigration or an FSM embassy and, for work, by the relevant state office.

Because employment and investor permits require supporting authorisations under the labour law (Title 51) and, for investors, a foreign investment permit, applicants should allow extra time and apply well before their intended travel date. Confirm current turnaround directly with the authority handling your case.
