Requirements
- Passport valid for at least six months
- Birth certificate, legalised/apostilled and translated into Spanish
- Criminal-record certificate less than 12 months old, legalised/apostilled and translated
- A work proposal or labour contract registered with the Ministry of Labour
- Ministry of Labour certification confirming the employing company is registered in the SIRLA system (for a private employer)

Variants by employer type
The document set varies slightly by employer. Staff of multinationals transferring in provide a labour contract or transfer letter (legalised/apostilled) plus parent-company documentation showing the source of salary. Free-trade-zone hires provide a CNZFE (free-zone council) certification in place of the Ministry of Labour registration. Staff of international organisations or public institutions provide the labour contract together with a diplomatic verbal note.
