Documents you will typically need
The core documents recurring across Dominican visa and residence applications — passport, apostilled civil records, police clearance, photos and medical checks.
Important
Across most Dominican residence and permit categories the DGM requires a passport with sufficient remaining validity (six months for several categories; 18 months for the student and PADEI permits), a legalised/apostilled and translated birth certificate, and a certificate of no criminal record from the applicant's country of origin (and from the Dominican Attorney General's Office if the applicant has already been in the country more than six months).
Applicants also generally provide recent 2x2 photographs (front and right-profile views, plain white background, ears uncovered and no accessories), evidence supporting the specific category (a Ministry of Labour-registered work contract, proof of enrolment, proof of the family relationship, or proof of income/investment), valid medical insurance where required, and medical examinations at a DGM-authorised institution.
Foreign public documents used in applications must normally be apostilled (or legalised) and, where not in Spanish, translated by a court interpreter. Exact document lists vary by category, so confirm the checklist for your specific route on the official DGM service page.
