How to Apply for a Tuvalu Visa or Permit
Step-by-step overview of how short-stay visitors and permit applicants apply to enter Tuvalu.
Important
How you apply depends on your purpose. Short-term visitors are generally issued a Visitor's Permit on arrival at the point of entry; they complete an Arrival Card (Form 11) and, unless exempt under Schedule 1 of the Immigration Regulations 2014, pay the visitor fee. EU/Schengen nationals and Taiwan passport holders may enter visa-free under bilateral arrangements.
Anyone coming to work, do business, study, carry out research, join family or stay long term must apply for a Permit to Enter and Reside on Form 3 (Schedule 2). The form is completed in English or Tuvaluan, signed by the applicant (a parent or guardian signs for under-18s), and submitted to an immigration officer with a passport or certificate of identity, two passport photographs, the prescribed fee, and evidence supporting the purpose.
Extensions of a Permit to Enter and Reside are applied for on Form 4. Applications and enquiries can be directed to the Immigration Department (immigration@gov.tv).
