Who Needs a Visa or Permit for Tuvalu
How nationality and purpose determine whether you need a visa, a Visitor's Permit, or a Permit to Enter and Reside.
Important
Whether you need advance authorisation depends on your nationality and purpose. EU/Schengen nationals and Taiwan passport holders can enter visa-free for short stays. Most other nationalities are issued a Visitor's Permit on arrival for up to 30 days, extendable for up to a further 30 days.
A Visitor's Permit does not allow employment, business operations, study or proselytising. If your purpose is the conduct of business, employment, study, academic or scientific research, a cultural or religious activity, or family reunion/support, you must instead hold a Permit to Enter and Reside — granted for up to one year and extendable.
Permits to Enter and Reside are granted only to applicants who satisfy the Principal Immigration Officer that they are of good health and character, meet the requirements of the Act, and hold a valid outward-bound ticket or have paid a repatriation bond.
