How to apply for entry and permits in Seychelles
Seychelles has a two-stage entry process for visitors - an online Travel Authorisation before travel and a free Visitor's Permit on arrival - while work, study, family and residence routes are applied for through the Department of Immigration and Civil Status.
Important
For most visitors, applying to enter Seychelles means completing a Travel Authorisation online before you travel. This is done at the official Seychelles Electronic Border System portal (seychelles.govtas.com) or through the Seychelles e-Border app, and must be approved before departure. On arrival, travellers who meet the conditions are granted a free Visitor's Permit for their stay.
For longer stays or other purposes - working, studying, joining family, or settling - you apply for the relevant permit through the Immigration and Civil Status (ICS) department. Work permits are applied for by the employer, student permits by the applicant with an acceptance letter, and family and residence permits through the relevant ICS section. Visitor's Permit extensions can be applied for online at permits.ics.gov.sc or in person at Independence House, Victoria.
The usual steps
- Check whether your purpose is covered by a Visitor's Permit or needs a specific permit
- Complete the Travel Authorisation online before you fly (or sail)
- Arrive with a valid passport, return/onward ticket, accommodation and sufficient funds
- Receive your free Visitor's Permit on arrival
- For work/study/family/residence, apply to ICS with the required documents and fees before or instead of relying on a Visitor's Permit
