Slovenia's immigration authority
Slovenia's migration system is led by the Ministry of the Interior's Migration Directorate, with permits issued by local administrative units.

National migration policy in Slovenia is the responsibility of the Ministry of the Interior (Ministrstvo za notranje zadeve), through its Migration Directorate (Direktorat za migracije). This is the body that shapes the rules on the entry, residence and integration of foreigners under the Foreigners Act.
Day-to-day decisions on residence permits and residence registration are handled by local administrative units (upravne enote) across Slovenia, while long-stay (Type D) visas are issued by Slovenian diplomatic missions and consular posts abroad, under the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. For employment routes, the Employment Service of Slovenia gives its consent to single (residence and work) permits.
