Romanian Long-stay visa for employment (D/AM) and Single Permit

Who it's for

• Non-EU/EEA nationals with a job offer or contract from a Romanian employer
• Employers who have obtained a work authorisation (aviz de angajare) from IGI
• Certain exempt groups (e.g. some Moldovan, Ukrainian and Serbian nationals in short full-time roles) who may not need a work authorisation

Requirements

• A valid work authorisation obtained by the employer from IGI (unless exempt)
• A valid passport/travel document
• Proof of financial means at least equal to the guaranteed minimum gross salary for the visa period
• Medical insurance valid for the visa period
• Criminal record certificate from the country of residence
• Proof of accommodation in Romania

What you can do

• Work legally in Romania for the sponsoring employer
• Reside in Romania and later apply to renew the residence/single permit
• Bring family through the family reunification route once you hold a residence permit
• Build towards long-term residence after 5 years of continuous legal stay

How to apply

1) Your employer applies to IGI for a work authorisation on your behalf.

2) Once granted, you apply in person for the D/AM long-stay visa at a Romanian embassy or consulate, submitting the work authorisation copy and supporting documents.

3) After entering Romania on the visa, you apply at the local IGI office for a residence/single permit before the visa's 90-day period ends.

The National Visa Centre processes the visa; approval can be granted without a separate IGI opinion where a work authorisation already exists.
