Polish Temporary Residence Permit for Studies

Who it's for

• International students admitted to full-time studies at a Polish university
• Foreigners enrolled in a preparatory course ahead of such studies
• Students already in Poland who need to legalise a longer stay

Requirements

• A certificate of admission to, or continuation of, full-time studies from the institution
• Proof of sufficient funds to cover tuition, living costs and return travel
• Health insurance covering treatment in Poland
• Proof of paid tuition fees for at least the relevant period
• A place of residence in Poland

What you can do

• Reside in Poland for the duration of the studies
• Work in Poland during studies as permitted under the rules for students
• Apply for a graduate permit after finishing the course
• Count lawful residence towards long-term residence

How to apply

The student applies to the voivode competent for their place of residence, submitting the admission certificate, proof of funds and insurance, and evidence of paid fees. The first permit generally covers the first year plus a short additional period; subsequent permits can be granted for up to three years.

A completed application filed on time keeps the stay legal until a final decision. After graduation, a graduate seeking work or wishing to start a business can apply for the dedicated post-study permit.
