  • Valid passport
  • Comprehensive health insurance or entitlement to healthcare
  • Proof of accommodation and a Hungarian address
  • One facial photograph

How to apply

Apply from abroad at a Hungarian diplomatic or consular mission, or from inside Hungary via the Enter Hungary platform or a regional directorate if you entered visa-free. The employer can also submit the application through Enter Hungary with the applicant's written consent.

The authority has 21 days to confirm the file is complete and issues a decision within 70 days of submission (30 days when transferring an existing Blue Card from another member state). If approved from abroad, you collect a single-entry Type D visa to enter Hungary and pick up the residence permit card.
