Appointments and biometrics for a Hungary application
Type D visas are lodged at a Hungarian mission with fingerprints; in-country residence cases go through Enter Hungary with one biometrics appointment at the OIF.
Important
How you make an appointment and give biometrics depends on where you apply. Third-country nationals applying from abroad lodge a Type D visa application at a Hungarian embassy or consulate, where biometric data is captured at the appointment. Applications for a stay exceeding 90 days made from within Hungary are submitted electronically through the Enter Hungary platform, followed by a single in-person appointment at the OIF for biometrics.
For biometrics, a facial photograph and fingerprints are taken. Children under the age of 6 and applicants physically unable to give fingerprints are exempt from fingerprinting.
Applying from abroad (Type D visa at a mission)
- Book an appointment with the relevant Hungarian embassy/consulate (many use an online appointment system by purpose of stay)
- Attend in person to lodge the application and give biometric data, including fingerprints
- Some missions use an external visa service provider for appointment booking and intake
Applying in Hungary (Enter Hungary)
- Register on the Enter Hungary platform (enterhungary.gov.hu) and submit the application electronically
- Book a biometrics appointment via the 'Book an appointment' section on oif.gov.hu, stating your exact name and Enter Hungary number
- Appear once at the OIF within 15 days of admission for identity check, facial photograph, fingerprints and signature
