Czech Long-term Residence Permit for the Purpose of Family Reunification

Who it's for

Spouses and registered partners, minor or dependent children (including step- and adopted children), and, in limited cases, dependent parents of a third-country national who already holds qualifying residence in Czechia.

Requirements

• The sponsor holds a qualifying status (e.g. long-term or permanent residence with sufficient prior stay, Employee Card with required residence, Blue Card, intra-company transfer card, or investment permit)
• Documented family relationship (marriage, birth, adoption, custody)
• Proof of accommodation and sufficient financial means
• Medical insurance
• Valid travel document
• Parental consent for minors where applicable

What you can do

• Live in Czechia with your family member
• Work without an additional work permit
• Enter and leave Czechia repeatedly and travel in the Schengen Area
• Extend alongside the sponsor's permit and build residence toward permanent residence

How to apply

From abroad, apply in person at a Czech embassy; if already in Czechia on a long-term visa or permit, apply at a Ministry of the Interior office.

Standard processing is around 60 days for in-country applications; applications from abroad can take longer (with a shorter timeline for families of EU Blue Card holders).
