Who it's for

Highly qualified third-country professionals with a university (or equivalent higher professional) qualification who have a Czech job offer that requires that level of qualification and pays above the Blue Card salary threshold.

Requirements

  • Completed higher/university education of at least three years (or comparable higher professional skills)
  • A job in Czechia requiring these high qualifications
  • Employment contract for at least one year
  • Salary of at least 1.5 times the average gross salary in Czechia
  • Proof of accommodation
  • Recognition of foreign qualifications where required

  • Live and work legally in Czechia in the qualified position
  • Travel visa-free within the Schengen Area
  • Move more easily to a Blue Card in another EU Member State after a qualifying period
  • Count Blue Card residence across EU states toward permanent residence (after five years)

How to apply

Apply in person at a Czech embassy abroad, or at a Ministry of the Interior office if you are already legally present in Czechia on a long-term visa or permit.

Biometrics are taken after approval and arrival, and the physical card is then issued.
