Czech Long-term Residence Permit for the Purpose of Doing Business

Who it's for

Self-employed third-country nationals with a Czech trade licence, and members or statutory representatives of Czech trading companies, who want a residence permit to continue their business activity beyond a business visa or prior permit.

Requirements

• Hold a long-term business visa, or another long-term residence permit with the required prior residence (generally five years continuous; three years for former family-reunification holders; or immediately for holders of the seeking-employment/business permit)
• Valid Czech trade licence / entry in the Trade or Commercial Register, or documented role in a Czech company
• Proof of funds and no outstanding debts (taxes, social security, health insurance)
• Proof of accommodation
• Medical insurance

What you can do

• Reside in Czechia while operating your trade or business
• Enter and leave Czechia repeatedly and travel visa-free in the Schengen Area
• Renew in two-year increments while the business continues
• Build residence toward permanent residence

How to apply

Initial applications must be filed in person at a Ministry of the Interior office. Extensions may be filed in person, by post, via Data Box, or by email with a recognised electronic signature, generally 120–180 days before the current permit expires.

Biometric data are collected before the residence card is issued.
