Croatia's immigration authority
The Ministry of the Interior (MUP) is Croatia's immigration authority, deciding stay and residence through its police administrations, alongside MVEP's consular network.

Croatia's national immigration authority is the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia — in Croatian, Ministarstvo unutarnjih poslova (MUP) — with its official website at mup.gov.hr. MUP administers the Aliens Act (Official Gazette No 133/2020) and is responsible for the stay and work of foreigners, border management, visa policy, international protection and citizenship.
In practice, temporary-stay and residence applications are handled by MUP's local police administrations and police stations, which take biometrics and issue biometric residence permits; long-term and permanent residence decisions are made by the Ministry itself. Abroad, national long-stay visas (visa D) are issued through the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MVEP) network of embassies and consulates.
