Croatian Temporary Stay for Study and Education

Who it's for

• University students (undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate) admitted to a Croatian institution
• Secondary-school pupils enrolled in Croatia
• Exchange and programme students undertaking recognised study

Requirements

• Proof of enrolment or admission to a Croatian educational institution
• Valid travel document and photograph
• Proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the stay
• Health insurance valid in Croatia
• Criminal record certificate (first-time applicants)
• Proof of accommodation

What you can do

• Reside in Croatia for the duration of your studies
• Renew the permit each academic year while enrolled
• Work within the limits allowed for students under Croatian law
• Progress toward long-term residence with qualifying continuous stay

How to apply

Applications are generally lodged at a Croatian diplomatic mission or consular post before arrival, and MUP decides them (processing commonly takes several weeks). University students may, exceptionally, apply at a police administration/station in Croatia even where they would normally need a visa.

After approval, students receive a biometric residence permit card and must register their address with the police shortly after arrival.
