Most Philippine visa applications share a common core: a passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay, completed application forms, passport photographs, and proof of the purpose of travel. Visitors are also generally expected to show return or onward tickets and evidence of funds.

Longer-stay and immigrant routes add further documents. Work visas need an approved Alien Employment Permit and employer papers; the 13(a) spouse visa needs marriage and civil-registry records and proof of the spouse's Filipino citizenship; investor and retirement routes need bank certifications of the required deposit or investment. Police/NBI clearances and medical clearances are commonly required, and foreign documents often need apostille or consular authentication.
