Eligibility and Visa-Free Entry
Whether you need a visa, and which route you qualify for, depends on your nationality and the purpose and length of your stay.
Important
Eligibility for the Philippines turns on two things: your nationality and why you are travelling. Nationals of many countries can enter visa-free for a short tourist visit under Executive Order No. 408, provided they hold a passport valid for at least six months beyond their stay and have a return or onward ticket. Others must obtain a visitor visa before arrival.
For anything beyond a short visit, a specific route applies: employment (9(g) with a DOLE permit), study (9(f) at an accredited institution), treaty trade or investment (9(d) or the SIRV), marriage to a Filipino (13(a)), retirement (SRRV) or permanent residence (quota immigrant visa). Each has its own qualifying conditions.
Because visa-free country lists and stay lengths change, confirm your own nationality's current entitlement with the Department of Foreign Affairs or the Bureau of Immigration before travelling.
