This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Peru divides its immigration procedures between two bodies. Short-stay categories - Tourist and Business - are requested at Peruvian consulates abroad (or entered visa-free where the nationality is exempt). Resident categories such as worker, student (formation), family, investor, rentista and permanent residence are granted by the Superintendencia Nacional de Migraciones inside Peru.

Most resident procedures are started online through the Migraciones digital agency, where you can begin the application, upload documents as PDF, pay the government fee at the Banco de la Nación, check case status and book appointments. Always start from the official gob.pe / migraciones.gob.pe pages for the specific category you need.

General steps for a resident category

  • Identify the correct calidad migratoria for your purpose
  • Pay the government fee (e.g. code 07568) at the Banco de la Nación where required
  • Start the application in the Migraciones digital agency and upload documents as PDF
