Who it is for

  • Foreigners intending to settle in Paraguay to develop a lawful activity

What you can do

  • Reside in Paraguay for the validity of the card and renew for equal periods
  • Work and study, and leave and re-enter the country
  • Obtain the Paraguayan identity card (cédula)
  • Use the residence as the basis for a future permanent-residence application

Requirements

  • Documentation of identity and, where applicable, of the lawful activity to be pursued
  • Foreign-language documents translated into Spanish by a translator registered in Paraguay
  • Criminal record and other supporting documents as set out in the Migraciones requirements
  • Compliance with the conditions in Law 6984/2022 and its regulations

How to apply

  • Follow the temporary residence procedure published by the Dirección Nacional de Migraciones
  • Submit the documentary requirements for the category to Migraciones
  • Obtain precarious resident status while the application is processed
  • Apply to change to permanent residence in the window before the card expires
