This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Papua New Guinea visas are regulated and issued by the Immigration and Citizenship Authority (ICA). Applications must be made through the official ICA website at ica.gov.pg and not through third-party websites. Both paper and online (eVisa) lodgement are accepted, depending on the visa class.

Six visa types and 21 visa classes are available online through the ICA eVisa system, including visitor, business, special exemption, entertainer, restricted employment and working resident classes. Where all entry requirements are met, an eVisa can be issued almost instantly. Work visas are lodged by the employer through the ICA Sponsor Portal, while some classes such as the student visa and certain charity/cultural performance visas require a manual application.

Routes for lodging

  • Online eVisa system at ica.gov.pg for eligible visitor, business and other listed classes
  • Sponsor Portal for employer-sponsored work visas (new applicants)
  • Manual application for student visas and certain non-online classes
  • Visa on arrival at a designated port for eligible nationalities
