Planning a European vacation this summer? Here’s an important update from Visa-Applications.org: Schengen visa fees are set to rise by 12.5% starting June 11th, 2024.
What’s Changing?
- Adult visa fees: Previously €80, these will now cost €90.
- Children’s visa fees (ages 6-12): Up from €40 to €45.
Reason for the Increase?
The European Commission cites rising inflation and member state employee salaries for the fee hike. This is the first increase since February 2020, and visa fees can be reviewed every three years.
Who’s Affected?
This applies to all applicants for short-stay Schengen visas (type C), regardless of nationality. Important Note: Nationals from countries not cooperating with readmission procedures may face even higher fees (€135 or €180).
Planning Your Trip? Here’s How to Stay Ahead:
- Apply Early! The increased application volume (up 36.3% in 2023 compared to 2022) may lead to longer processing times.
- Check Visa-Applications.org Regularly: We’ll keep you updated on all the latest visa news and application procedures.
- Consider a Multi-Year Visa: If you’re a frequent traveler from India, you might be eligible for a new multi-year visa program offering up to 5 years of validity.
