The Ghana Visitor Visa allows foreign nationals to enter Ghana temporarily for tourism, family visits, or private purposes.
This visa does not permit employment or paid activities.

Purpose of the Ghana Visitor Visa

A Visitor Visa is issued to travellers who wish to visit Ghana for:

Tourism, sightseeing, or attending cultural events.
Visiting friends or family members residing in Ghana.
Attending private or non-commercial ceremonies.
Short-term personal travel that does not involve business or employment.

Eligibility Requirements (2025)

To qualify for a Ghana Visitor Visa, applicants must meet the following general conditions:

Hold a valid passport with at least six (6) months of remaining validity.
Provide proof of accommodation or invitation from a host in Ghana.
Show evidence of sufficient funds for the entire stay.
Present a return or onward travel ticket.
Provide a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate.
Have no record of immigration or criminal violations.

Required Documents

All applicants must prepare the following before applying:

Completed Ghana visa application form (signed and dated).
Two recent passport photos (white background, 45mm x 35mm).
Passport valid for at least six months with one blank page.
Invitation letter from a host (if applicable).
Copy of host’s Ghana ID, residence permit, or passport bio page.
Proof of accommodation (hotel or private residence).
Proof of funds (bank statements or payslips covering 3 months).
Flight booking or confirmed travel itinerary.
Yellow Fever vaccination certificate.

Application Process

Complete the application online via the
Ghana eVisa Portal or at a Ghana Embassy/High Commission.
Upload or attach all supporting documents listed above.
Pay the applicable visa fee (see Ghana Visa Fees 2025).
Book and attend an appointment if required for biometrics or document verification.
Wait for processing (average 5–10 working days).

Visa Validity & Duration of Stay

Single Entry Visa: Valid for 90 days from the date of issue.
Multiple Entry Visa: Valid for up to 6 or 12 months (for frequent travellers).
Duration of stay: Typically up to 60 days per visit, extendable in Ghana.

Restrictions & Conditions

Employment or paid work is not permitted on a visitor visa.
Volunteer or internship activities require a specific visa category.
Overstaying beyond the permitted period may lead to fines or future refusals.
Applicants must depart Ghana before the visa expires unless extended.
