How to apply for a New Zealand visa

Most New Zealand visas are applied for online through Immigration New Zealand using a RealMe login, where you upload documents, a photo and pay.

Most New Zealand visas are applied for online. You first create a RealMe account, a secure login used across New Zealand government services, then complete your application in Immigration Online. You can upload supporting documents and photographs and pay for the application in the same system.

Some visitors can travel on an NZeTA instead of a full visa. From 24 September 2026, new applications for most visitor visas move exclusively to Immigration New Zealand's enhanced Immigration Online system, so always start from the official immigration.govt.nz website to reach the correct application.
