How to Apply for a Nepal Visa
The main ways to obtain a Nepal visa: on arrival at the airport and land borders, in advance at a Nepali diplomatic mission, or by pre-applying online.
Important
There are three main ways to obtain a Nepal visa. Most tourists use the visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and at designated land border crossings, completing the application at self-service kiosks and paying the fee at the counter. You can also apply in advance at a Nepali embassy or consulate, which is required for the small number of nationalities not eligible for the on-arrival facility.
The Department of Immigration also operates an online portal where tourists can pre-fill the visa form before travelling, which can speed up processing at the airport. Longer-stay categories — work, study, business, residential, marital and non-tourist visas — are applied for through the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu, usually after obtaining a recommendation from the relevant sponsoring ministry or authority.
