Nepal Visa Eligibility
Who can enter visa-free, who can use the on-arrival facility, and who must apply in advance.
Important
Eligibility for a Nepal visa depends on nationality and purpose. Indian nationals do not require a visa to enter Nepal. Nationals of most other countries can obtain a tourist visa on arrival, while nationals of a small number of countries are not eligible for on-arrival visas and must apply in advance at a Nepali diplomatic mission.
For non-tourist purposes, eligibility is tied to meeting the conditions of the specific category — for example an approved work permit for employment, admission to a recognised institution for study, an approved investment for business or residential visas, or marriage to a Nepali citizen for a marital visa.
Key points
- Indian nationals: no visa required
- Most nationalities: tourist visa available on arrival
- A limited list of nationalities: must obtain a visa in advance
