Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Tourist visas on arrival are typically issued within minutes at the airport or land border once the form is completed and the fee is paid, subject to queues at peak times. Pre-filling the online form before travel can reduce time at the counter.

Visas applied for in advance at a Nepali diplomatic mission, and long-stay categories processed in-country by the Department of Immigration, take longer because they require supporting documents and, in many cases, a recommendation from a sponsoring ministry. Plan for additional time for these routes and confirm expected timelines with the mission or Department of Immigration.
