How to Apply for a Namibian Visa or Permit

A plain-language overview of how visa and permit applications work in Namibia, centred on the official MHAISS eServices portal.

Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Most Namibian visa applications are now made online through the official eServices portal run by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security (MHAISS). Travellers create an account, complete the relevant application, upload supporting documents and pay the fee online, then present the approved visa on arrival.

Visitor routes include the Tourist/Holiday eVisa applied for before departure and the online Visa on Arrival for eligible nationalities. Longer-term routes, such as employment, study, business, family and residence permits, involve additional documentation and are adjudicated in Namibia; some are lodged through the eServices work-visa services and others through MHAISS offices or Namibian missions abroad.

Because Namibia's visa arrangements have changed several times recently, always confirm the current process for your nationality and purpose on the official MHAISS channels before applying, and avoid third-party sites that add service fees.
