How to apply for an Eritrean visa
Eritrea has no general e-visa; visas are applied for in advance through an Eritrean embassy or consulate using form B62.3.
Important
Eritrea does not operate a general online e-visa or visa-on-arrival system for independent travellers. Almost all foreign nationals must obtain a visa before travelling, and applications are made through an Eritrean embassy or consulate responsible for the applicant's region.
The core application form is form B62.3, which is completed and submitted online along with the fee. After submitting the form and payment, applicants mail their original passport to the relevant Eritrean mission so the visa can be affixed, then travel once it is returned.
A visa on arrival at Asmara International Airport is possible only in limited, pre-arranged cases — typically where a sponsor or licensed tour operator in Eritrea has lodged a request with the Immigration Authority before the traveller arrives.
Typical steps
- Choose the correct visa type and read its requirement list
- Complete and submit form B62.3 online and pay the fee
- Mail your original passport to the Eritrean mission
- Travel once the visa has been issued and returned
