This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

For most categories you need a passport valid for at least six months from your intended date of departure from Bhutan and a completed visa application form. Tourists applying online also submit a passport-style photo and confirmed travel and accommodation details.

Work permit applications additionally require approval from the Department of Labour, employer and employee undertakings, a copy of the relevant visa or entry permit, and a medical fitness certificate issued by a government-certified medical officer in Bhutan. Dependent visa applications require a recommendation from the work permit holder's employer plus notarised marriage or birth certificates. Student applications require a recommendation from the relevant agency and an admission offer from the institution.

The Department of Immigration may request additional documents during assessment.
