Important

This information is for general guidance only. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee your application will be approved.

Foreign nationals staying in Belarus beyond a short registration-free period must register with the local office of the Department for Citizenship and Migration. When you stay in a hotel, hostel, sanatorium or other collective accommodation, the establishment normally registers you automatically on check-in.

Visa-free entry has important limits: it applies only to ordinary passports, the total visa-free stay must not exceed 90 days within a calendar year, and the airport regime excludes flights to or from Russia because they are treated as internal flights without border control. Always match your point and mode of entry to the specific visa-free rule you are relying on.

Key points

  • Register with the Department for Citizenship and Migration if staying beyond the registration-free period
  • Hotels and collective accommodation register guests automatically
  • Visa-free entry is capped at 90 days total per calendar year
  • Do not rely on airport visa-free entry when flying to or from Russia
