How to Apply for an Andorran Residence Permit
The general process for applying to the Servei d'Immigració, from choosing the right authorisation to collecting the permit.
Important
Andorra does not process residence applications through overseas embassies — most applications are lodged in person in Andorra la Vella with the Servei d'Immigració (part of the Ministry of Justice and Interior), or through the Government's online Seu Electrònica / e-tràmits portal where available.
The first step is identifying the correct authorisation: residence-and-work (employed or self-employed), family reunification, studies, or one of the residence-without-work categories (passive, professional with international projection, or scientific/cultural/sporting interest). Work permits are employer-driven and depend on the annual quota; residence-without-work permits depend on making a qualifying investment and an AFA deposit.
Once the right route is chosen, the applicant assembles the supporting documents, completes any required medical examination through the immigration medical area, and — for active residents — registers with the CASS social-security fund. The authorisation is collected once approved and is later maintained through renewals.
